The objective of this course is to provide basic knowledge on the concepts of Intellectual Property. The course gives an introduction to intellectual property and explains the protection offered by different species of IP. The course delves into scope, extent, term of protection and rights granted by each type of IP.

The course consists of ten chapters. The first chapter deals with the concept of intellectual property and the underlying rationale. The subsequent chapters deal with each of the nine species of IP individually and delve into scope, extent, term of protection and rights granted by each of them. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of suggested further readings that can be used for enhanced knowledge on the subject.

There will be a final exam at the end of the course for the purpose of assessment. A candidate has to score a minimum of 50% to successfully complete the course and to be eligible for certificate.
